Dear Mt. Pleasant Students and Parents,
 
Since school is closed for the next several weeks, we want to make sure that every member of our community has the mental health support they need to take care of themselves and their families. Below is a list of mental health resources available to our students and their families during this school closure.

Say Something Anonymous Reporting System
Students and their parents can use the websitehttps://www.saysomething.net/, or the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System app to request help for at-risk individuals before they hurt themselves or others.
If you do not have access to use the website or the app, you can call 1-844-5-SAYNOW.
 
Uplift Mobile Crisis Team
Uplift provides 24-hour intervention to children and teens in the community who are in acute psychological crisis. Their staff can conduct a 5150 (psychiatric) evaluation along with safety planning and referrals to community-based mental health services.

The Bill Wilson Center’s Youth Crisis Line
This Youth Crisis Line is available to individuals of all ages 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and provides confidential help to individuals of all ages, including supportive listening, counseling, crisis intervention and referrals. . Their number is 408-850-6125.
 
For Parents:  Bill Wilson Center’s SOS Crisis Hotline is a specialized line where they answer calls 24/7 from parents for children and youth who are experiencing an immediate behavioral or mental health escalation or crisis.  SOS CRISIS HOTLINE  408 278-2585.
 
2-1-1
This is a free, easy-to-remember phone number that connects callers with health and human services in their community. 2-1-1 is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and in over 150 languages. All calls are confidential.

WELCOME TO THE CARDINAL SUCCESS CENTER!

The Cardinal Success Center (CSC) is a Student Support Service Program.  The CSC is staffed by a School Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Mental Health Interns, Community Based Organizations and work collaboratively with staff at the school site and District office. 

 

MISSION STATEMENT OF STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES PROGRAMS (SSSP)

 “Increase academic success by providing students and families with educational, personal and social support in a safe learning environment.”

 

WHAT SERVICES DOES THE CARDINAL SUCCESS CENTER PROVIDE?

The CSC Provides a number of free and confidential* services to the school community including:

  • Crisis intervention
  • Mental health counseling services, support, and case management.
  • Building trusting relationships with students, families, and school personnel.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of student and family.
  • Home visits to understand and address barriers to learning.
  • Family support, linking students and families with school and community resources.
  • Collaborating with all school personnel to assess students’ social/emotional obstacles to academic success.
  • Assisting teachers and administrators in developing plans to help students with academic and behavior problems.
  • Develop/facilitate/coordinate wellness prevention and intervention programs and activities.
  • *Some services may require parental consent

 

Issues that May Prompt a Student Support Center Referral:

  • Mental health 
  • Grief & loss 
  • Suicidal ideation, depression
  • Relationship/dating issues
  • Identity issues
  • Abuse or neglect
  • Health concerns
  • Lack of basic needs/homelessness
  • Pregnancy, teen parent needs
  • Change in academic performance
  • Chronic attendance or tardiness issues
  • Gang affiliations
  • Coping or social skills deficits
  • Facilitation of school-home-community communication
  • Student advocacy
  • Referral, monitoring, collaboration to and with community agencies
  • Staff support and/or development
  • Substance Abuse

Note: The Cardinal Success Center will keep all information confidential, unless students are in danger, or are putting others in danger.
