UPDATE

Over 52 classrooms have been modernized over the last 2 years. Buildings 200, 300, 600, 700 and 800 have been addressed. All the new classrooms have the latest technology. In addition, new restrooms have been opened in the 800, 200 and 600 wings. These modifications were in addition to our new multi-purpose building project which included 6 additional classrooms and new restrooms.

The school looks better and the new structure of the campus has eliminated the small quad areas. The new wide hallways make transitions from class to class easier and safer.

The gym and the locker rooms have been updated as well. This project includes: replacing the bleachers and flooring, painting the interior, improving the lighting, installing new scoreboards, adding a team room to the girls’ locker room, upgrading the fire alarms and replacing the heating and air conditioning in the locker rooms.

We now have a synthetic turf football field and a newly resurfaced track. If you haven’t been to the field, I’d encourage you to stop by, it looks great. New track equipment has been ordered and should be here shortly. An opening celebration was held in September, and three Mt. Pleasant alumni who participated in the Olympics (Vashti Thomas, Corey White and Ed Lasquete) were present to assist in the ceremony. Our football and soccer teams were able to play games on their new field this year. The track team and PE classes are now enjoying the newly resurfaced track.

In addition, our outdated and broken kitchen equipment has been replaced.

Future projects:

Over the next 2 summers, thanks to bond funds, we will be able to accomplish some other major projects, including: the modernization of our library, including a student service center, and modernization of our pool to make it larger and deep enough for water polo and swim meets, and some roofing and door replacements and asphalt repairs.

We see a change in the behavior of the students. They are more focused on their academics and we attribute that to the improved quality learning environments. Thank you to our community for the support you have provided our school.
